It’s Friday. Time to boogie till you can boogie no more.

This week at the BOOGIE DANCE CAFÉ we’re primed and ready to welcome two of Sydney’s finest record collectors, Kato and Reenie, who will be laying down solid grooves all night long - from chill, to boogie, to bust.

Across a mammoth 11-hour back-to-back set kicking off at 5pm and going all the way to close, these two powerhouses will be gracing the ones and twos, building from chill out jams, to mid-tempo grooves, right through to a session of complete and utter dance floor hedonism.

Expect rapid fire house and techno laced with that ‘90s tinged percussive and trance goodness as Kato joins forces with his fellow Record Store Sydney and FBi Radio compadre Rennie for all things boogie.

Combining classic dancefloor elements with cutting edge sounds and an encyclopedic music knowledge, Sydney selector Kato has maintained a strong presence in the Australian dance music scene for almost 15 years. With his 4000+ record collection, he uses elements of house, hip hop, world music, techno, disco and funk like lego building blocks to serve any kind of party with a dance floor experience like no other.

Based in Eora/Sydney, you may have caught Reenie contributing to the music scene by gracing the airwaves on FBI Radio or behind the counter at The Record Store. Her dedication to Sydney music is unparalleled.

Having brought her classical percussion skills to music curation, Reenie has a talent for blending the eccentric and eclectic into a cosmic journey through sound. Her energy and passion are contagious, so prepare to be indoctrinated into her ever-growing circle of appreciators.

Club 77 has gone by many different names over the years, as we’ve meant different things to generations of clubbers. For a spell back in the ‘90s we were referred to as ‘The People’s Club’. Others simply labelled us a dirty little disco basement. And then, before we were Club 77, our iconic little nightspot was actually called the ‘All Night Boogie Dance Café’. You might say we were always destined to boogie.

With a respectful nod to the past while embracing our revamped future as Sydney’s essential late-night dive bar and underground clubbing destination, every Friday night we welcome weary workers and music frothers to the BOOGIE DANCE CAFÉ. Kicking off at 6pm, each week we provide a cosy den for after work drinks that slowly builds into an epic night of house, techno, disco, and everything in between.

Welcoming a return to the time-honoured tradition of correct nightclub programming, BOOGIE DANCE CAFÉ will see Club 77 offer a platform to some of the city’s finest DJs to play all night long, curating extended sets that build from happy hour to the early hours.
