DāM-Funk, Bamboozle aka Eli Soul Clap, Duane Harriott is on Tue, Jun 12, 2018 at Good Room, Brooklyn. Lineup: Soul Clap.
Damon "Dam-Funk" Riddick is the epitome of funk. Ever since debuting with Stones Throw in 2008. A '70s baby, DãM-FunK came of age in the era of the Uncle Jamm's Army parties, of electro-pharaoh Egyptian Lover, of Prince's purple reign. It had a lasting impact and after making music in bands throughout the 90s, he started throwing the Funkmosphere party in L.A., bringing the boogie back. It's around then that Dam drew the attention of Stones Throw and both label and artist related to Dam's insistence that "funk is not just a Jheri Curl. There was more than that."
He will be joined by Duane Harriott on warm up. Duane's knowledge of music is hard to surpass, playing everything from afro and latin to world funk, disco, hip hop and soul. He was a cofounder of the legendary Negroclash parties at APT, makes music as Devin Dare (with partner Sean Marquand) and hosts a weekly radio show on WFMU, Duane Train.
Special guest for the evening is Bamboozle, aka Eli from Soul Clap. Eli takes the funk with him wherever he goes, whether it's in his productions for Soul Clap, his work with other artists on his label Soul Clap Records, or on his weekly Lot Radio show. He will be throwing down in a special birthday set.
