Damon “Dam-Funk” Riddick is the epitome of funk. Ever since debuting with Stones Throw in 2008, Dam-Funk has become one of the genres most passionate proselytizers, out to save it from devilish depictions of cartoonish caricature. To Dam, funk is a way of living, a feeling of struggle and staying cool through it all.

Growing up in the 80s listening to Egyptian Lover and Prince, he started learning drums as a teenager and became a drummer in hip hop bands in the 90s. He become an artist on his own terms in the 2000s, cultivating a musical renaissance rooted in the early-'80s styles known as Boogie, Modern Soul and Electro-Funk. He's released several records on Stones Throw and has collaborated with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Ariel Pink and Q-Tip.

He's playing at Good Room on August 4 where he'll be joined by LET'S PLAY HOUSE founder Jacques Renault. Plus Dusk & Haze's Sophia Saze headlining the Bad Room with Kyle & Griff.
