Det Gode Selskab with Steve Bug is on Sun, May 1, 2016 at Jaeger, Oslo. Lineup: Steve Bug.
From the promoterWith Monday a public holiday and Det Gode Selskab in our basement, this special Sunday evening will take on a whole new dimension as when the legendary producer and DJ Steve Bug comes to town.
Steve Bug has been there since ’93, a time when dance music loitered under ground and the DJ was a selfless, faceless facilitator for the music. As both a DJ and producer he’s been there ever since, upholding this humble value through a remarkable track record of dance floor hits and classic DJ mixes. As a facilitator he’s launched three significant contributions to the world of underground club music in the form of Raw Elements, Dessous, and Poker Flat Recordings, giving artists like Märtini Brös, Trentmøller & John Tejeda a platform from which to launch their careers. Each label portrays a crucial element of Steve Bug’s musical personality, ranging from Deep House to minimal Techno to unadulterated club cuts.
As well us providing a platform for new artists, these various labels allow Steve Bug to release uncompromising music with tracks like Volksmusic, Loverboy, and Wet and Dry becoming instant classics in the world of Techno and House over the years. It was this uncompromising attitude that has kept Steve Bug tied to his roots, and during an age when the superstar DJ dominates the charts, Steve Bug goes against the grain, adopting new aliases to release new music, to retain some of that humility that was ingrained in him since the start of his career. “I never wanted to sell out” is the DJ and producer’s mantra and no one could ever accuse him of such. Steve Bug is by all accounts a superstar DJ where “superstar” is merely an indication of his skill rather than his fame.
More on the Det Gode Selskab...
Det Gode Selskab offers a fitting end to the week at Jæger every Sunday with an evening of House and Techno that can go in any direction with Solaris, Tod Louie and Philip Hinz at the helm. Det Gode Selskab have only one purpose in mind when they get to the booth, and that is the music and the people. Their boat parties have become the stuff of legends and their events in places like Rockefeller and the Vulkan arena have cemented their reputation amongst their peers in Oslo as the go-to guys for quality music and an electric atmosphere. Their Sunday sets are intimate affairs for dedicated audiences who love to dance and “constraint” is hardly a word this society has in their vocabulary. This concept is Oslo staple on a Sunday.
