OCTAVE ONE
Octave One has been essential to DJ playlists for over two decades. The prolific band of five brothers has produced classic dance floor anthems that continue to resonate as fresh, groundbreaking tracks. Last year Octave One released their monumental seventh full-length album 'Burn it Down' on 430 West Records.
Octave One is the brainchild of core members Lenny and Lawrence Burden. The Burden brothers burst onto the Detroit techno scene in 1990, producing Octave One’s debut “I Believe,” featured on the compilation Techno 2: The Next Generation. The collective also includes frequent contributions from siblings Lynell, Lance and Lorne Burden. Their 2000 hit single "Blackwater" has sold over one million records worldwide. The group has also earned critical acclaim for countless records including "Empower," "Nicolette" and “The X-files.”
For their newest chapter, Octave One pushes the pillars of funk and soul forward on Burn It Down. They blend the intimacy of the studio production process with the immediacy of the live performance. “We did it by slamming a DJ set with a live recording studio,” says Lawrence.

The soundscape therapists explore deeper in the abyss of fusion and expressionism…The silent monolith like label, Desvio is once again providing the chemical ingredients appropriate for spawning such imaginative range and spectrum. Slam Mode has set out to create new paths with their own unique production and mixing style, with the intent of elevating themselves and their listeners to unlimited levels of consciousness.
Porkchop aka SSPS
Porkchop aka Black Gigi aka aka Jon Nicholson of the band Excepter aka one of the coolest dudes in this f*ckin city ... a cult figure and influential tastemaker for various scenes. SSPS makes intentional strides to shine the third eye onto the crystal, emanating shades of blues, concrete, and punk. SSPS has released music on LIES, Nation, and Avant God.
Alex From Queens (Capriccio)
Alex hails from Queens, NY, and has been involved in the NYC music scene for a hot minute. His old thrash band Karma performed at Limelight, Tunnel, and Downtime before he left the city to study mathematics and linguistics. After seeing Jeff Mills hypnotize with his shamanic wizardry, Alex was forever changed, and decided to buy technics. Hungry for roots knowledge, Alex freaked out on old Ron Hardy and Wizard recordings, went on vinyl stalking missions to the midwest, learned flamenco clapping rhythms from outlaw Spanish gypsies, even studied synthesis with Serge Tcherepnin's brother, Ivan. Through his legendary Capriccio parties, Alex has tried to bring back a sexy and raw element to the nyc's overly stale electronic scene, hearkening back to the days of line dancing, leather love, and playing whatever the hell you want. His record collection is nothing but cuts, and he has the skills to walk the walk, routinely taking down the lineups he is part of. He is the man with the master plan.
