Rødhåd returns to BASEMENT following an absolute melter at WIRE. The Berlin DJ is a paragon of the monumental and awe-inspiring. From his first transmissions on Dystopian, Rødhåd has been laying down driving, darkly-hued loop techno that conjures the menace and allure of a nocturnal traversal through the city’s underbelly. His collaborative works on his own WSNWG show an artist nowhere near slowing down. Rødhåd’s dynamism and power draw from techno’s bottomless well of searing, corporeal power. Holden Federico returns to lay it down. The NY artist drills down into techno’s most essential qualities – its rushing momentum, hypnotic allure and vivid, potent mercuriality – and uses that as a launchpad for new creative vistas.

Mexico’s Paurro makes her STUDIO debut. A staunch ambassador for heavier Latin sounds, Paurro harnesses a wicked storm of reggaeton and dembow-laced electro hybrids, rolling house and vicious vocal flips. Her credentials are strong; label manager for Cómeme, resident at Yu Yu and Funk Club and an international head-turner. This is going to sizzle. Analog Soul needs no introduction. Strap in for top notch, bumping house from a pair that knows their shit. Their history in NY goes back decades, and they play with an authority and vibe that can’t be faked. They embody raw, grimy and soulful funk balanced by moments of sublime clarity. Sister Zo returns for more scorched bass mutations. Last year’s “Arcana” EP revisits the bubbling syncopations of her breakout “Freak Shift” EP, with ultra-crisp percussive drive and warm, enveloping low end.
