About Brännbollsyran

Brännbollsyran is Sweden’s wildest combination of sport, music, and student culture, held annually in Umeå, far up in the north of the country. What began as a local brännboll (rounders-style) tournament has evolved into one of Scandinavia’s most unique and electrifying music festivals—blending competition by day and massive performances by night. Taking place each early summer, Brännbollsyran brings together tens of thousands of attendees for a three-day celebration that merges a beloved Swedish pastime with international-caliber music. The festival has hosted top-tier artists across EDM, pop, and hip-hop, including Kygo, David Guetta, Alan Walker, Macklemore, Zara Larsson, and Peggy Gou. With its high-energy crowds, unbeatable student vibes, and stunning northern setting, Brännbollsyran is more than a festival—it’s a rite of passage for young Swedes and a growing number of international visitors.
