When asked how and when his love for music began, Daliwonga attributes his passion to his father who centered his household around music. Born and bred in Soweto, Zone One music played a vital role in his daily life. His father, a singer himself, would often encourage his children to sing him songs before they went to bed or when they had guests over. His musical career began in primary school where he formed a music group with his friends, in high school he decided to leave the group and chase his independence. In 2019, Daliwonga featured on Luu Nineelevent’s album Simatasatasa at Satz, contributing vocals on the songs Dive In In, Ngeke Wazi, Abavuke, and Friends with Benefits. The two collaborated again on the single “Yelele” together with Kevin Momo and DJ Stoks, which received a gold plaque. 2020 started with Daliwonga being introduced to the multi-talented performer and producer DJ Maphorisa. Daliwonga recalls recording his first EP “Uyang’Testa” on the same day he met DJ Maphorisa.
The EP was then released on the 17th of April 2020 with much success. The project included fan favourites such as “Tester” featuring King Monada and “Mona” featuring Aymos. The second half of 2020 came with more success as Daliwonga featured on multiple songs on Kabza De Small’s record-breaking multi-platinum selling album “I Am The King of AmaPiano: Sweet and Dust.
